These terms apply to your use of the Ruitersrus Guest Farm website and to stays at the farm. By using the website or booking a stay, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

2. Using this website

The information on this website is provided in good faith for general guidance. We work to keep it accurate and up to date, but we do not guarantee that descriptions, photographs, availability, facilities or nearby attractions are complete or current. We may change the website or its content at any time without notice.

All text, photographs, logos and design on this website belong to Ruitersrus or are used with permission. You may not copy, reproduce or use them for commercial purposes without our written consent.

3. Enquiries and bookings

This website does not take bookings or payments. The contact form is for questions and enquiries only, and submitting it does not create a booking or reserve any dates.

Bookings are made through Booking.com, Airbnb and LekkeSlaap. The platform you book with handles your payment, and its own terms apply to your booking, including rates, payment, cancellation and refund conditions. Please read them before you confirm. Rates, availability and conditions may differ between platforms, and we are not responsible for the terms or services of those platforms.

4. Check-in, check-out and guest numbers

Check-in is from 15:00 to 19:00 and check-out is by 10:00. If you expect to arrive outside these hours, please contact us in advance. Each unit may only be occupied by the number of guests stated in your booking. Visitors who are not part of your booking must be approved by us beforehand.

5. House rules

To keep the farm pleasant and safe for everyone, we ask all guests to:

  • Pets: Pets are not permitted.
  • Smoking: Smoke outdoors only. Smoking is prohibited inside all accommodation.
  • Shared spaces: Treat the shared pool, lapa, braai facilities and pizza oven with care and leave them clean and tidy after use. The Main House kitchen, dining room, lounge and pool table are for Main House guests only.
  • Consideration for others: Keep noise to a reasonable level, especially in the evenings and early mornings.
  • Fire safety: Use braai facilities only in the designated areas, never leave a fire unattended, and extinguish it fully before leaving. Take extra care in dry or windy conditions.
  • Children: Children must be supervised at all times, particularly around the pool, animals and farm areas. The pool is not lifeguarded.
  • Animals: Observe the horses and other farm animals from a distance unless a member of staff says otherwise. Please do not feed or approach them without permission.

6. Damage and belongings

You are responsible for any loss or damage to the property, furnishings or equipment caused by you or your group during your stay, beyond normal wear and tear. We are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal belongings. Please keep valuables secured and your vehicle locked.

7. Access and safety

Access to the farm includes a gravel road, so please drive carefully and allow extra travel time. Confirm arrival directions with us before you travel. The Honeymoon Suite is upstairs. If you have access or mobility requirements, contact us before booking so we can advise whether the accommodation will suit you. You use the farm’s facilities, including the pool, braai areas, walking areas and grounds, at your own risk.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Ruitersrus is not liable for any loss, injury, illness, damage or inconvenience suffered by you, your group or your belongings in connection with your stay or this website, except where caused by our gross negligence or intentional misconduct. We are also not liable for interruptions to services such as electricity, water, internet or road access, or for events outside our control such as severe weather, fire or strikes. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Third-party links and activities

This website links to external sites and attractions, including booking platforms, Facebook and tourism operators. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, availability, prices, opening times or services. Any outing or activity you arrange with a third party is a contract between you and that provider.

10. Privacy

We process your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), as explained in our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page, with the “last updated” date, applies.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
